Khao Sok is an absolutely stunning place—truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. However, to make the most of your trip, it’s good to align expectations beforehand.
Firstly, you’ll be part of a larger group, typically 40–60 people, which means it’s not an intimate or private experience. The longtail boats, while iconic, are quite loud. This doesn’t take away from the incredible scenery, but it’s worth knowing that the journey to the accommodations and the safaris won’t be serene or quiet. That said, the boat engines are turned off periodically during safaris, allowing you to soak in the peaceful surroundings.
The accommodations are as described—very basic and primitive. Be prepared for simple huts, and note that bedding (pillows and blankets) may not always feel freshly washed. I’d highly recommend bringing a pillowcase and a silk sleeping bag liner for added comfort.
Communication with the guides can sometimes be challenging due to language barriers. While this wasn’t an issue for me, it might be for others. For the included hike, expect to get muddy and wet, as you’ll walk through streams and muddy trails. Sturdy shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty are essential.
On the plus side, the food was excellent, and they were happy to accommodate vegetarians without hesitation. Just let them know in advance to help them plan accordingly. There were occasional stops or waiting periods throughout the itinerary that weren’t always explained, but if you approach the trip with a relaxed mindset and go with the flow, it’s not a big deal.
Despite some of the challenges and differences from “Western” standards, the trip is entirely worth it for the incredible natural beauty and the people you meet along the way. I met so many wonderful, like-minded travelers, and the experience was unforgettable.
If you go in prepared and embrace the adventure for what it is, you’ll have an amazing time. Don’t miss the chance to see this magical place!

100% would recommend! Such a good experience however be prepared for a long boat ride and put your belongings in waterproof dry bags that you can buy in Khao Sok as they probably will get wet and only take a small bag of items that you'll need. Also on the safari walk, take shoes that you don't mind getting soaked (or bring a spare pair) but these shoes have got to cross rivers so something suitable for the terrain.

Inigualable y recomendadisimo!!
