Enjoy eco-farm life, organic meals, and a starry night on Cheow Lan Lake.
Escape the crowds and experience the best of Khao Sok with this unique 3-day adventure. Unlike most trips that head straight to the lake, this experience lets you settle into a charming farmstay before heading to the famous floating raft houses. You’ll slow down, cook traditional Thai meals with farm-fresh ingredients, and soak in the peaceful rhythms of rural life before exploring the incredible Cheow Lan Lake. The first night is spent on a family-run farm, where you’ll learn traditional Thai cooking methods, from extracting coconut milk to cooking rice in bamboo. With delicious meals and a cozy bamboo cottage, this is a warm, intimate way to start your journey. The second night is a complete change of pace—you’ll be staying in a floating raft house on the remote Cheow Lan Lake. The raft house is basic and busier (especially in peak season), but the setting is magical. Expect dramatic limestone cliffs, jungle treks, boat safaris, and peaceful mornings on the water. This trip is perfect for backpackers and nature lovers who don’t mind simple living and want to experience both an authentic farmstay and a night out on the lake.Farmstay Experience (Night 1)Stay at a family-run farm in a cozy bamboo cottage, with a fan, floor mattress, mosquito net, and private bathroom.Join a hands-on jungle cooking experience with fresh ingredients from the farm. Learn how to make coconut milk, curry paste, and cook rice in bamboo over an open fire.Dine under the stars, enjoying the peaceful sounds of the jungle.Expect a warm, intimate experience with up to 20 guests—perfect for social travelers who want a personal touch.Great chance to experience local hospitality before heading deeper into the jungle.Cheow Lan Lake Floating Rafthouse (Night 2)Hop on a traditional long-tail boat and cruise through Cheow Lan Lake’s towering limestone cliffs.Stay in a basic floating raft house surrounded by water and jungle. The raft house experience is more rustic and communal—expect up to 100 guests during peak season.Rooms here are very simple: a floor mattress, pillow, blanket, and no mosquito net (but mosquitoes are not usually an issue over the water).Shared bathrooms with other guests—please bring your own toiletries (soap, shampoo, and towel).Electricity is only available from 6:30 PM - 10:30 PM, so charge your devices beforehand. No Wi-Fi or phone signal—this is a true digital detox.Enjoy time at the lake—swimming, kayaking (6-7 shared kayaks available), or simply soaking in the peaceful atmosphere.Join a jungle trek led by a local guide. The route will depend on the weather and season and could take 30 minutes to 1 hour each way—expect wet and uneven terrain. In the evening, head out on a boat safari to spot wildlife like hornbills, otters, and langurs.Wake up early for a magical morning boat safari as mist rises from the lake—one of the highlights of the trip.Meals are served buffet-style, with refills available (except for fish).About the Rafthouse - Know before you bookPlease read all the details carefully to ensure this trip meets your expectations!Who this is for: This is a very basic experience, and we can't stress that enough. During high season, the rafthouse (Day 2) can get extremely crowded and even a bit chaotic. It's best suited for backpackers who enjoy meeting new people and don’t mind roughing it out for a bit of adventure.Limited English: You’ll be accompanied by a local long-tail boat driver and guide who has limited English skills. While they can help to spot some wildlife, please note that they might not be able to provide detailed information about the area.Solo travellers: During the high season (November to April), due to limited capacity on the lake, solo travelers may need to share a raft house with others of the same gender (maximum 2–4 people), as per the raft house policy. Couples, however, will have their own private room and won’t need to share. We understand this arrangement may not suit everyone, so please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like to explore alternative options.Park fees: The Khao Sok National Park, Pier, and Wildlife Fees are not included in the package and are approximately 540 THB per adult / 270 THB per child in total. payable in cash, but are subject to change based on the park's policies. Please ensure you bring enough cash to cover these fees.High Season Group Size: During the high season (November - March), guests will likely be part of a large group, with up to 100 guests staying at the rafthouse. The lake has limited trails and caves for exploration, which means that both day-trip and overnight-trip visitors all share the same spots.Meal Service: All meals will be served at the same time for all guests, which can make the co-living space a bit busy during meal times. Expect a lively atmosphere as everyone gathers to enjoy their meals together. Guests can ask for a refill, except for the fish.Jungle Trekking: During the jungle trek, there will be sections of the trail that require crossing over streams, so your shoes are likely to get wet. If you prefer to keep your shoes dry and don’t have spare ones, you can rent jungle trekking shoes for 50 THB.Kayak Availability: There are 6-7 kayaks available at the rafthouse, which may not be sufficient for everyone in the group. Customers will likely need to share kayaks, providing an opportunity for interaction and bonding with other guests.Rafthouse facilities Accommodations are very rustic and basic, featuring shared bathroom. a mattress on the floor with a simple pillow and blanket. Please be aware that there are no fans or air conditioning available.Once you arrive at the floating rafthouse, you’ll be off the grid! There is no mobile signal, so it’s the perfect chance to truly disconnect and immerse yourself in nature.Towels, shampoo, and soap are not provided, so please remember to bring your own.Electricity is limited and only available during the night for a few hours: 6:30 pm to 10:30 pmThe rafthouse doesn't have en-suite toilets - the toilets are shared between rafthouses.MealsMeals are included, though note that the meals are simple and may not be as good as elsewhere in Thailand.Halal and Vegetarian options are available - do let us know in your notes on the booking form.
