We did the Handicraft tour. It was a really good experience, with Pam our very nice guide and the lovely H'Mong people from the village right above Zizi Homestay. They showed us how to weave hemp (we also tried it) and embroider their traditional clothing, and we could decorate and dye a piece of fabric with the locally grown indigo paste ("batik"). We also had a chance to participate a tiny bit to make the dinner, although we would have loved to participate more. We ate with the family which was great. They even played the lusheng for us.
It was shorter than expected (lasted from 9.30 to 14h30). And there were a few down times where we didn't really do anything though they didn't last long.
All in all it was a very nice experience with lovely people. We loved to try their traditional crafts and make our very own batik, and it was really interesting to discuss with our guide and discover more about their culture and ways of life, in a typical home.
