This is one of our favourite options that doesn't neatly fit into any box. This 2 hour session combines a beekeeping masterclass with honey tasting, and you'll get a yummy organic honey cocktail/mocktail to end the session. Our favourite part? It all takes place at a secret rooftop farm/bar that reminds us of speakeasies abroad. This experience is both child-friendly (age 3+) and pet-friendly!Option Highlights✅ Whimsical, raw, and thoughtfully crafted rooftop farm/bar not open to the public ✅ Learn the ins-and-outs of beekeeping! ✅ Honey tasting to learn about the different flavour notes present in honey✅ End the session with a yummy farm-to-table honey cocktail Option DescriptionThis super unique 2 hour experience includes an organic farming masterclass, a bee farm visit, and a once-in-a-lifetime bee-farm-to-table experience. The detailed 2-hour program includes:1. A hands-on lesson by an expert instructor on how to farm organically - you will learn how good soil can help you avoid the use of pesticides and even get to bring home a pot of the soil you mixed with a high potential plant cutting (e.g. basil/ lemon *subject to seasonal supply).2. An up-close viewing of the bee-farm in bee suits — learn about the hardworking honey bees and their different kinds of nests and hives, while you hear them buzzing around you. 3. A truly unique farm-to-bar tasting experience — Begin with a honey tasting session and learn about the different flavours of unifloral honey, then end the evening with cocktails/mocktails topped with fresh garnishing, straight from the garden.NOTE: Interacting with bees come with the inherent risk of being stung. While you will be well taken care of, those with severe allergies to bee stings should not sign up. Child FriendlyThis Experience is suitable for children aged 3 years and up. We will provide bee suits for all participants. Take note that you will have to climb a spiral staircase 3 levels up (and down). We encourage all guests to wear covered shoes for safety reasons.Pet FriendlyYes!

The Sundowner

The Sundowner offers an oasis of green floating above the bustling cafes and bars of Siglap. It is a unique space in Singapore and something you will not have seen before. A barren concrete rectangle before, it is now is fully covered in green, with a reflection pond, rows of organic vegetables, and bee hives. Also comes stocked with a fridge, wifi, speakers, and a projector & screen, for that perfect evening under the stars.

Bee Farming & Honey Tasting @ Secret Rooftop Farm
This was such a unique experience! Not only was the rooftop very special and chilled, the experience was also incredibly insightful and fun! The rooftop venue was glorious. It felt like the speakeasies in London, hidden from the world and an incredibly chilled oasis. While we were up there we felt like we were transported to an entirely different country. We're already planning our next trip back! At first we thought the experience was pretty random as it seemed to include lots of disconnected parts: organic farming, beekeeping and honey tasting/cocktails! But it turns out that it was intended to show us how incredibly interconnected our earth's ecosystem is. The quality of the soil influences the plants -> plants in turn affect the bees & the honey they produce -> and finally that affects the food & drinks that we consume! Clarence was super knowledgeable and interesting, and was able to answer all the questions we asked. We were there with a group of friends - it's perfect for couples or a small group who want to see a cool place and learn something new! There was also a family doing the experience with us and they seemed to be having lots of fun too! Fun fact: The bees here are rescued. When bees are discovered in housing estates or schools, they'll call Clarence who will come and rescue them, and house them in the apiary. We thought that made the experience extra, extra special!

Bee Farming & Honey Tasting @ Secret Rooftop Farm
At the Sundowner you can learn how to farm your own herbs, spices and fruits from your balcony in Singapore! For someone like me who is terrible at keeping plants alive, the session was super informative and it inspired me to start farming my own basil (it's still alive!) Clarence was a super chill and cool host who knew pretty much EVERYTHING about organic farming and wild bees. I loved the honey tasting session where we learnt different ways to describe honey other that sweet - who knew it could be woody, floral, or fruity? The session ended with a cocktail customizing session, where you can pluck some herbs around the organic garden and use them to enhance the flavour of your drink. Overall an amazing experience and would highly recommend to couples who are looking to try something new for a date!

Bee Farming & Honey Tasting @ Secret Rooftop Farm
Being on this secret rooftop felt like I was at an Australian countryside vineyard experience :) When we first stepped onto the whimsically decorated rooftop (you have to cross this beautiful pond and neon sign), Clarence plucked a spearmint for us to eat! We loved the entire experience — it was so chill and so special. The best part about this was of course, meeting and learning all about the bees, and tasting different types of honey after. Highly highly recommend this for anyone craving that overseas countryside experience :)

Helpful Questions from Other Travellers

Q
Hello, we are so excited to book our experience with you! What happens if it rains? The weather lately has not been ideal or predictable so we thought we would check first! Thank you so much.
A
Hi Kylie, thank you for your questions. Part of The Sundowner's appeal is its open rooftop, but in the event of heavy rain at the start of your Experience / Lounge session, they may postpone the booking to a later date of your choice, subject to availability. If it starts raining after you begin your Experience / Lounge session, there is a gazebo at the rooftop so you can continue without getting wet!
Q
What should I pack?
A
Closed toe shoes with high socks (to climb up the spiral staircase)
Reusable bag (To take home some plants!)
Water bottle
