Experience a private sunrise trek up Mt Batur's hidden paths with a local guide
This private trek offers a quieter, more authentic ascent of Mount Batur, taking you onto hidden paths known only to local Kintamani guides. While the summit experience is shared with other hikers, the journey to the top is far more tranquil than the usual crowded trails. Ascend in the quiet pre-dawn, reaching the viewpoint as the first light reveals sweeping panoramas of villages, Lake Batur, and distant peaks. This is Batur the way it was meant to be discovered. Why This Trek Stands Apart:Local Expertise: Hike alongside guides who call this place home, sharing insights and knowledge unknown to most tourists.Untrodden Paths: Explore the volcano's less-crowded trails, offering a sense of genuine exploration and intimate connection with the landscape.Hike with Heart: Support the Kintamani community directly by trekking with local guides who share their love for their home. What to Expect:Early Start: Begin your adventure at 3:45 am for a memorable hike under the stars. Your guides will provide headlamps.Varied Terrain: Navigate diverse landscapes with changing conditions. Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes suitable for rocky and sandy sections.Shared Summit, Unique Journey: Enjoy the breathtaking sunrise views alongside other hikers, but cherish the peaceful ascent that sets this experience apart. Bring layers, as it can be cool at the top.Scenic Descent: Enjoy changing vistas and the highlight for many – a thrilling slide down a section of volcanic sand. Your guide will demonstrate the best technique.Be Prepared: The hike is moderately challenging. A reasonable fitness level is recommended. The advantage of a private trek is the ability to go at your own pace.Optional Upgrade:Natural Hot Spring Rejuvenation: Unwind in the relaxing hot springs while soaking in stunning Lake Batur vistas (additional fee applies).

Meet your host
Jero grew up farming with his family in the shadow of Mount Batur, but the volcano always called to him. He and his cousins would spend hours exploring its slopes. Now, he shares that love with visitors, leading his team of local experts (some of those same cousins!). This is a story of passion, community, and how tourism can truly uplift local lives.

Maria, 23 Apr 2024
Hi Maria, you can choose the add-on transport from Bali :) However, during your booking, please include under "additional notes" your exact location in Ubud. Hope this helps.
My friends and I (6 pax) would like to visit the cafes along Penelokan Main Road after the trek. Would it be possible to arrange a detour on the return transfer?

Hi, one of our travel mates has an old back injury. Would the trek be too strenuous for them? Could you give some relevant SG-based comparisons for how strenuous the trek may be? Thanks!
Abraham, 12 Dec 2023
Hi Abraham, If you're considering the regular Mt. Batur trek (not the caldera trek), it's like the Bukit Timah back route (Dairy Farm), but a bit tougher, around 2-3 times more challenging due to longer duration and higher elevation. We'd suggest going for a private tour so you can take it easy climbing Mt. Batur. Our team mate with a back issue also could do this hike just fine :)
