Don't come during rainy season. Hardly any animals and boat trips could be cancelled. Don't get 2D1N. It's too rush and you won't have time to enjoy the beautiful hotel room. You arrive mid afternoon and leave early morning, plus 5-6 hours of sightseeing activities. Food is...... Just okay.

Friendly and helpful staff; Aloy is a seasoned and knowledgable guide - he has a wealth of info on the many bird species that we encountered, as well as the primates and vegetation. The chalet was comfortable - although it does get very hot in the afternoon even with the aircon blasting, so I highly recommend taking to the hammocks above the restaurant to chill in the afternoons. Lovely river deck.

Helpful Questions from Other Travellers

Q
Will I definitely see Elephants and Orangutans?
A
No, we're afraid not. Kinabatangan River is one of the best places to see wildlife in Malaysia, as the wildlife mainly live around the small stretch of river. However, sometimes they do wander off to nearby palm plantations to feed for some weeks and then wander back to Kinabatangan River again. With wild animals, nothing is guaranteed - which is a little part of the magic too!
Q
What should I pack?
A
Binoculars
Bug repellent
Camera
Hat
Leech socks or long thick socks
Raincoat
Sunscreen
Torch light
