Templer Park Rainforest Retreat

It is unlikely that 18 years ago, Saw Kim Hock would have envisaged that this humble little homestead would welcome guests from around the world. Yet with the advent of the sharing economy and a lot of hard work, what began as a simple homestead for his family and friends has transformed into Templer Park Rainforest Retreat, a rural escape in Rawang that is just 20km north of Kuala Lumpur. The retreat also harvests solar power for its water heaters, and there are plans to reuse rainwater and compost fallen leaves.

We stayed 2 nights in the Villa. 4 families travelled together with our kids. The property is great. Well appointed for self catering with plenty of storage/kitchen space & fridges. The bedrooms are good enough - but the beds are very hard and the cleaners had failed to remove someone else’s dirty underwear from under our bed (a bit worrying really considering COVID MCO cleaning SOPs). The covered outdoor lounge decking areas are fun for BBQs etc. But the management is very firm on noise abatement. So you have to temper your sense of fun: no music, no laughter etc. Be aware of troublesome monkeys & LOADS of mosquitoes. The villa shares the lovely infinity pool and its lawn with another property 100m away at the far end of the car park - which wasn’t made clear when we booked. Considering the price of the Villa (about £420 per night) this was pretty poor. Further, with the COVID SOPs pertaining to swimming pools we elected not to co-use the pool with the 15+ strangers from the other property who were already in and around the pool area. This marred the stay for us. We considered it irresponsible of the management to allow this sort of high risk shared activity during the RMCO.

The place is amazing, in the middle of the jungle, with golf court view and monkeys around ). Hans is a very good host, always helping out, giving tips and very friendly staff

Han was a fantastic and attentive host. His rainforest retreat was a picturesque setting for a few days of much needed R&R. Just watch out for the monkeys!

We are a family of 14 and recently stayed at TPRR for 2 nights. We rented the whole villa and got the whole property to ourselves. The thing that I would like to highlight is our host, Han who is super friendly and promptly respond when we need something during our stay. The property is huge and so suitable for family with kids. My nieces and nephews were really enjoying the swimming pool and they refused to get out of the pool. Outdoor dining is also amazing which really something that we really enjoyed. The only thing that I feel can be improved is maybe to put a jug of water with glasses in the room. Our stay has been perfect, such a well maintained property and we would love to come back again. Thanks Han, and TPRR family.

The villa is a very relaxing place, perfect quick escape from the city. Temperatures and weather were nice, views were great, and we enjoyed a BBQ with friends during the day before settling in for the rest of the vacation. Facilities were easy to use for making meals and the monkey's weren't aggressive, which was nice. Pool was by far the best, with enough tree cover that you could lounge out there for the whole day if you wanted. It was a very enjoyable stay for the family and visit from friends.
