Fireflies decreased population in Bali inspired our regenerative movement to save the fireflies through "Bring Back The Light" You'll learn fireflies life cycles from a scientific perspective, and what caused their population are decreasing. They are a joy to see, and their presence is a sign of a healthy ecosystem. However, fireflies are declining in many parts of the world, including Bali.</li><li>There are many reasons why fireflies are disappearing. One reason is habitat loss. Fireflies need clean air, non-contaminated water, and fertile soil to survive. When their habitats are destroyed, they cannot live there anymore.</li><li>Another reason for firefly decline is light pollution. Fireflies use light to communicate with each other, and when there is too much artificial light, they cannot see each other. This can lead to problems with mating and reproduction.</li><li>Finally, fireflies are also being harmed by pesticides. Pesticides can kill fireflies directly, or they can make it difficult for them to find food.</li><li>The decline of fireflies is a serious problem. Fireflies are important pollinators, and they help to control insect pests. They also play a role in the food chain. Fire fly is a natural creatures which only active at night and full full of magic and wonder. Every country has different believes regarding this tiny bugs. And Balinese believe that this heavenly creature can lead the human spirits to heaven afterlife. It is known there over 2,000 species of the fireflies. They are recognised to be a bio indicator of clean air, non contaminated water and healthy soil.

Rumah Konservasi Kunang-kunang is a community based initiative to save the fireflies by doing in-depth research about fireflies through rearing, breeding, observation and experiment to increase their population for rewilding. We are also developing a pesticide free zone to protects its population in nature, by collaborating with the local farmers.

Why Fireflies Conservation Is
So Important?
Isn’t  sad to imagine, if the fireflies extinct, our future generation can only see their pictures, videos and animation movie?

The over development in Bali nowadays have caused the pressures to the fireflies population. The change of natural landscaping have created habitat loss, light polution and chemical contamination.

Many scientist agreed, that the presence of the fireflies actually mark the area as an indicator of clean air, non contaminated water and fertile soil. It is also an environmental indicator for biodiversity.

Half-Day Electric Cycling Tour of Ubud

This adventure starts just North of Ubud and winds through spectacular scenery on the way to Tegalalang Rice Terraces. 

Along the way you will pass by temples and rice fields. And ride through villages to see the real Bali. 



Do all of this with a knowledgeable local guide who can teach you all about what you are seeing. And best of all - our e-bikes will flatten out all those hills!



Your destination will be the impressive Tegalalang Rice Terraces where you can see why it is called a UNESCO World Heritage Site.



On the return, you have the choice to visit either a traditional Balinese family home, to learn more about the traditional way of life in Bali, or a coffee farm for a complimentary coffee tasting.





Then continue riding through some of Bali’s most beautiful country side views, before arriving back in Ubud for a delicious Balinese lunch.



Our tours are suitable for all fitness levels and offer you an amazing look at the Beauty of Bali. This tour is also great because of the small group size, with no more than 10 people at one time and a guide-to-guest ratio of 1 to 3.



Requirements

There is no minimum age requirement however please be advised that our bikes are full-sized 26″ mountain bikes and may be too big for young children under 150cm height. 



The tour travels both on and off-road, and while it is not especially challenging it does require some bicycle riding experience.



There is no maximum age. We have had many guests in their 70s do the tour with no problems.



The maximum weight allowable is 120 kg (265 lbs.).



Covered footwear and sunscreen are highly recommended.



For young children

Kids under 150cm may join the tour on a golf cart ride at an additional cost.



About e-bikes

We use a high-quality mountain bike with quality components and add a top-of-the-line e-bike drive system to it.

This means you get the best of both worlds with an awesome cycling experience and some electric help when you want it. 

All our bikes are new and professionally maintained and we have the most advanced high-capacity batteries on the market so you will never run out of power.

So how does an e-bike work? Well, the bottom line is you can pedal as little or as much as you want!. 

This means you can use it with no electrical assistance (like a push bike) or only electrical assistance (like a motorbike) or anywhere in between.
