Hike volcanoes, chase waterfalls, and immerse yourself in local colour.
This 4-day private trip takes you from Surabaya to visit the famous Mount Bromo and Kawah Ijen volcanos and along the way makes stops to explore the stunning Tumpak Sewu waterfall and colorful Jodipan a.k.a. Rainbow Village. This experience enables you to see all the highlights of East Java and is perfect for adventurous travellers. What to ExpectVisit Mount Bromo, witness the stunning sunrise and explore the volcanoExplore the stunning Tumpak Sewu waterfall, the most beautiful waterfalls in Indonesia and a photographer's dreamStop by Jodipan Village (a.k.a. Rainbow village) where each building is brightly coloured and perfect for photosBlue flames trek at Ijen volcano.Includes: Private transportation in air-conditioned vehicle, accommodation, breakfast, all entrance fees, mineral water, and local guide.Fitness levelsModerate fitness is needed for this trip. If you're able to walk for 4-5 hours, you'll be ok.Bromo: You won't need to be fit to visit Mount Bromo as it's mainly a jeep ride and some stairs (240 steps that takes 20-30 minutes to climb).Ijen: For Mount Ijen you'll need to hike for 3-4 hours in the dark, with some steep terrain.Tumpuk Sewu: Tumpuk Sewu waterfall trek isn't difficult but it'll be slippery and uneven in parts so you'll need to have good shoes, and be able to scramble in parts.Important Tips: Please note while the start time is quite flexible, customers are required to commence the trip no later than 1 pm local time.Bring a headlamp: Essential for the early morning hikes and the Ijen crater trek.Fitness levels: While the Bromo hike is suitable for most fitness levels (as it's just jeep + short flight of stairs), the Ijen trek is steeper and requires a moderate level of fitness.Long Drive Times: Note that the drive times can be long as the distances between places is far, so be prepared! Some days will require a 7-8 hour drive. If you get car sick, we'd recommend just doing a Bromo only trip instead of a East Java trip.Ijen's Blue Fire: The blue flames are a natural phenomenon and not always visible. However, even without the flames, the Ijen crater is a stunning sight with incredible views as it's the largest crater lake in the world!Embrace the flexibility: This is your private adventure, so don't hesitate to ask your guide for customizations or adjustments to the itinerary.Note :The host will arrange accommodation at a homestay once the booking is confirmed. Please note that the homestay is subject to change based on availability and scheduling. The host will provide an alternative option that is comparable to the one shown in this listing. As this area is relatively new to foreign tourism, most drivers speak very basic English and Jeep operators may not speak any English at all. However your host will organise all the relevant details in advance and you will have access to your host via Whatsapp during the trip. Please note a medical certificate from a local clinic is required to climb Mt Ijen. Your driver will help you to obtain this certificate while in Banyuwangi.

Hello, we'd like to be picked-up at Munduk - will the ferry be included? Or do we need to book it in advance, too? We'd also like to end in Surabaya - so there will be no extra chare for this because it's the end-point anyway, correct? Thank you very much!

If you book the add ons pick up or drop off bali it will include ferry ticket
Hi, what is the latest possible pickup from Surabaya on the first day? We would only arrive on this day by plane. Another question, how long is the longest hike? Is it possible to take breaks in between or to walk slower for people with medical conditions? Thank you!
Philipp , 11 Oct 2024
Hi Phillip,
Thank you for reaching out! Since this is a private trip, the start time is flexible on the first day, and it depends on your flight time.
Regarding the hikes:
Bromo: The hike to the viewpoint is relatively short, about 45 minutes to an hour. It’s mostly a steady incline.
Ijen: This is a bit more challenging, with the trek lasting around 2 hours to reach the top.
Tumpak Sewu: The longest of the three, taking around 2 to 3 hours roundtrip, depending on the route and pace.
Yes, it’s definitely possible to take breaks or walk slower, especially for people with medical conditions. Our guides are experienced in adjusting the pace and can accommodate your needs throughout the trek.
Let me know if you need more details!
Hello! I would be interested in this tour. We are 2 people, private tour means we would only be 2 of us? Hoe much would it cost to get picked up and dropped off in Ubud? Can we change the order of the itinerary? Thank you!
Laura, 26 Aug 2024
Hi Laura, yes private trip means it will only be for your group The price is Rp9.929.785,58 for 2 person with an add-on for pick-up and drop-off to Ubud. You can choose the add-on for Zone 4 which includes Ubud. During your booking, you can include under "notes" to inform our host your request and they will be in touch with you on feasibility :)
Hi, I am a solo traveller - is it possible to join a group tour? Thank you
