Surrounded by lush rice fields, the gallery is a haven for contemporary batik art, showcasing the exquisite creations of the region's most talented batik artists and artisans.Founded by Tatang Elmy Wibowo and Aprat Koeswadji three years ago, the gallery is a testament to their commitment to supporting the local artistic community. It serves as a platform for a cooperative of artists, all of whom proudly display their masterpieces within its walls. The gallery, attached to Tatang's family home, is steeped in history and tradition. Tatang's father, a skilled batik artist in his own right, once worked in this very space, before the family's rice fields demanded his full attention.Tembi village itself is a beacon of resilience and community spirit. Rebuilt by a local hero named Pak Tatang after the devastating earthquake in 2016, the village strives for self-sufficiency. This ensures that even in challenging times, the local community has a strong foundation to rely upon. How your visit supports local communitiesWhen you visit Leksa Ganesha, you're not just admiring extraordinary art; you're directly supporting the livelihoods of local artists and contributing to the ongoing revitalization of this vibrant community. Each purchase empowers the artists, sustains their craft, and helps preserve the rich cultural heritage of batik art. Your visit becomes an act of cultural exchange and a meaningful way to give back to the local community.

Can children attend this class, and if so where is the minimum age group?
Christine Swift, 23 Sep 2024
Hi Christine, this experience is suitable for children. During your booking, you can include under "notes" the age of your child to inform our host and they will be in touch with you :)
Hello! My husband and I are interested in your class! We were wondering if it was possible for us to make a larger batic fabric than the little squares we see in the pictures on your website? We would love to make batik that is big enough to tie around our waist as a skirt. Is this larger size an option?
Kaitlyn Brown, 05 Jul 2024
Hello Kaitlyn, Our host has confirmed that it's possible to accommodate your request. However, if you're specifically looking for a sarong-sized piece, the pricing will differ. Could you please email us at chat@seeksophie.com with the number of sarongs you require? We'll gladly assist you further in completing your booking. Looking forward to hearing from you!
