We generally don’t go on tours - in our experience, most are just promoting unsustainable practices. However, this tour was extremely educational and eye opening! Here is a bit of what we’ve learned - The floating markets in this area used to be a vital part of the local economy. However, as trade moved to land, the need for floating markets and their role changed- becoming wholesale only, leaving those smaller businesses (such as boat drivers) behind. This is where (sustainable) tourism has a place, as our guide pointed out by saying “we are their product now”, highlighting the fact that tourism does play a part in keeping tradition alive - example being the lovely boat driver that moved us through the small canals and thought us how to make traditional straw toys. All without speaking English or us speaking Vietnamese.

We enjoyed exploring areas that are not usually visited by tourists, and experiencing local traditions. The history of Chinatown was particularly interesting, meeting some locals and understanding the importance of the temples. Our guide, Ti, was excellent. He navigated us safely through the traffic and gave us great insight into the city. Our questions were welcomed. Recommend this tour if you want to have a break from the shops and get a deeper understanding of Saigon. Nothing like cycling to immerse yourself in the city

Our family of 6 went on this tour, and it was nothing short of fun! The tour featured five distinct food destinations, each featuring an authentic flavour of Vietnam: Broken rice, Vietnamese Coffee, Banh Mi, Vietnamese Egg Pancake, and Beancurd dessert. Between food stops, we toured the old district and flower market, which gave us a glimpse into local life, all while helping us digest and work up our appetite. The guides were young, energetic, and very personable—they really made the adventure seamless, and never a dull moment. They handled all the ordering for us, accommodating every special request, which made the whole trip super smooth. Our mom had such a great time she didn't want the tour to end. Highly recommended for a fuss-free and memorable experience for any age group.
