This was honestly a once in a lifetime experience and we can highly recommend it!
Wayan and his Family were amazing! We learned a lot about fireflies and have seen so many of them.
Additionally we learned a lot about the traditional Farming in Bali and have had a great cooking experience with the most delicious food we have had so far in Indonesia.
This was a very unique experience and off the beaten track.
Thanks a lot to Wayan and his family and Team :)

I went to the Firefly conservation with my group. And it was way beyond our expectations. Wayan and his family and team were very welcoming and thoughtful. We were walking from the main road to the camp area in the jungle, as our van driver wasn't sure if the van can go through. Wayan met us halfway. While the walk isn't far, one of our group had to use the toilet. Wayan actually got his staff to motorbike out to pick up my friend, so that he can reach the camp faster. Not only that, Wayan found my van driver and helped to direct him into the camp itself.
Within the camp, while it was spartan, the staff were really passionate on conserving the fireflies. They took a lot of time and effort to show us the various stages and life cycles of the fireflies. And we also walked through a village, seeing their daily lives.
The fun part was also preparing our dinner, using the ingredients that were from the farms in the villages. The food we were served were interesting and absolutely delicious. And rest assured that it was handled well with gloves, so no one had any issues with Bali Belly. There was even dessert!
And of course the highlight of the trip was to see the fire flies glow during nightfall. While not many, you will also be rewarded with the many stars in the sky, since there is no light pollution. But with Wayan and his team's effort, I believe they will very soon be successful and there will be many more fireflies.
Would definitely recommend this as a very unique experience

What a special experience. Wayan and his family greeted us warmly with the most delicious rice and cassava flour pancakes and fresh coffee. Then, Wayan told us the story about starting the Firefly conservation effort. How this is a true passion project, how everyone thought he was crazy, and his motivation was to restore the fireflies for his children and grandchildren and he started it all with no scientific background. He gave us a tour of the surrounding farms, and we helped his sister prepare and unbelievably delicious dinner all sourced from the farm, including the palm sugar syrup which his father harvested and made! He toured us through the lab and after dark we saw the fireflies come out. It’s a wonderful place doing important work and a wonderful view into one local family. Definitely a highlight.

In this place, Wayan shows and explains the importance of nature conservation and organic farming. Combining ancient wisdom and science, this farm may hold the solution for the future of sustainable living and eating. It is a beautiful place off the beaten track with very friendly and knowledgeable people. And the food is great!

Our recent adventure with Seek Sophie’s Sapa Cultural Tour was nothing short of extraordinary! Our guide, Mai, was a vibrant and friendly local whose energy and knowledge truly made the experience unforgettable. She shared fascinating insights about the culture and traditions of Northern Vietnam, immersing us deeply in the charm of the region.
The 13km trek through Sa Pa’s stunning landscapes was both invigorating and rewarding. We were blessed with perfect weather—cold yet sunny, making the experience even more magical. The breathtaking views and Mai’s engaging storytelling kept us captivated every step of the way.
Lunch was a culinary highlight, packed with authentic local flavors that we savored with every bite. Mai’s thoughtful touch of preparing extra chili for my girlfriend (a spice lover) added such a personal and delightful note to the meal. And the Vietnamese drip coffee? Absolutely divine—it hit differently in the heart of Vietnam!
We highly recommend this tour to anyone seeking a mix of adventure, culture, and heartfelt hospitality. Thank you, Mai and Seek Sophie, for a memorable journey we’ll cherish forever!

Trekking in north of Sapa was an experience for me. Su was very attentive and helped me a lot during difficult times. Chuy and Me Xau were very kind to welcome me in their home. Definetly would try again in summer, when the rice fields are green and the weather not so foggy
