Wayan and his family were incredibly welcoming and we loved cooking, exploring the property, and learning more about our their culture with them. The lab team taught us so much about fireflies and gave us a magical experience under the trees. Everyone should be so lucky as to have this experience once in a lifetime!

What a wonderful evening we had seeing the fireflies. Our host Wayan took us around the rice fields and explained the conservation they are doing in the area to help the firefly survive. We also had a tour of the organic farm and learned about the plants we could cook and eat, we then did some cooking in the kitchen and then we were served a delicious evening meal, the steamed banana with coconut was a great dessert. Our whole evening was very educational and a delight to be with this local family who are very passionate about nature, sustainability and the environment around them. This is a must do tour when you are in Ubud, Bali.

This is an informative and unique tour which is not to be missed. The family atmosphere and the openness and niceness of the hosts is very welcoming and makes you feel at home.
The firefly experience is incredible and makes you really appreciate the animal itself. The research team are very friendly, knowledgeable and open to questions.
Finally, the passion they hold throughout the whole tour makes you want to come back and see how their progress is.

Well done. Took the optional tank cleaning and they were flexible to let us release turtle first then cleaned tank. We stepped inside with so many baby turtles and hand picked them away and placed them back. Memorable experience

Visiting the firefly conservation center was an absolutely magical experience. Hearing the owner’s story about how he is trying to save the fireflies so generations after him can experience the beauty of fireflies in their natural habitat was truly inspiring. Our children learnt so much and enjoyed this experience so much. Eating a traditional Balinese dinner in the jungle was so special. Loved this and wish I could give more than 5 stars.

What a delightful tour this was! Wayan and his family were so welcoming and warm and it was truly inspiring to hear and see the important work they are doing to conserve the local firefly population as well as the magic and wonder that nature has gifted us with. Wayan and his team of scientists were informative and passionate about their work it was very cool to know that these efforts are taking place. Wonderful hospitality from the moment you walk onto the farm to the moment you leave. Such a satisfying experience, I cannot say enough. Perfect for travelers who want a unique, educational and magical experience!

We loved being “off the beaten path” and being in the midst of the rice fields. Lunch was authentic home-cooked food and was amazing as well.
We went in June (rainy season), and it rained throughout the trek. We recommend checking the weather before you embark on the trek to be adequately prepared (with umbrellas, ponchos etc).
There will likely be friendly Hmong locals who approach you and strike conversation, just keep in mind that they are street vendors who sell souvenirs.
Overall, a unique experience for those looking for something different and more adventurous! :)
