This was honestly one of the most unforgettable snorkeling trips I’ve ever had — and so much fun!
Agus, our awesome guide, took me to the local market first, where I saw the shocking shark trade — baby sharks for food, fins and teeth sold everywhere. Totally heartbreaking, but then I got to hear from the ex-shark fishermen themselves about how this tour gives them a better, alternative income.
When we went snorkeling, the water was crystal clear, full of colorful tropical fish and beautiful coral. They even took me to Pink Beach 3, which felt like a private island — no one else there!
I will never forget this trip. Seeing the ex-fishermen’s excited smiles as they brought me snorkeling and shared their stories was so touching. Snorkeling with them felt like doing something good while having a blast — supporting the locals and saving sharks at the same time! So happy and proud of what they do 💙

Such a great experience! 🐝
Juli was super informative guide and somehow made me way more interested in bees than I ever expected. Learning how important they are to the farm’s ecosystem was eye-opening.
Tasting honey straight from different hives was honestly a core memories, each colony tastes different, which felt like a honey tasting flight 😄 Seeing how they harvest the honey without hurting the bees was really cool too.
At one point it genuinely felt like watching a National Geographic episode… but live. Highly recommend!

A fascinating experience to learn about bees, and especially the stingless trigona bee, native to tropical areas. Juli is a super knowledgable guide who's enthusiasm and curiosity for bee keeping and farming is infectious. This close up encounter with the bees, learning about their ecosystem and lives (think Game of Thrones level of palace intrigue) makes this typically threatening creature a truly admirable point of interest. Highly recommend!! Walking around the farm and seeing all super interesting and tasty plants (cashew nuts, mulberries, bananas!) around is a bonus!

Agus and Eddy were great guides. Made snorkeling fun and easy and I feel safe. Sea was calm and water very clear. Corals and marine fishes were beautiful. We saw blur surgeon fishes. Angel fishes. Friendly "Nemo". And purple orange etc corals. And loads of sea stars. ...Blue White beige orange and red.

A fantastic experience.
We had a great day with out tour guide Agus (Dorsal Effect guide in Lombok). He explained everything very well about the project, and also about Lombok and their people. He is a very good photographer and can help you taking shots.
The visit to the market was a very good way to start the day and understand the project.
Suhardi the boat man (converted shark fisherman) was very helpful and always with a smile.
The corals we saw during the snorkeling are in very good health, some of the best I have seen my places in SEA. The sea was a bit cold, so make sure you bring a rash vest if you have. We loved having lunch at the "secret beach" and walking around Pink Beach.
It is worth the $$$ you pay knowing you are supporting a good cause.
Kathy Xu is doing a great job, and I hope you support The Dorsal Effect project.

An absolutely awesome trip well worth the money. From Kathy, to Agus, to the Captain of the boat....they are so obliging and responsive....wonderful water, friendly crew, an absolutely fantastic experience for my 7 year old son. What more can I possibly ask for. Highly recommended, esp for city dwellers who want to try something different. Kathy, Agus and crew are absolutely outstanding. My first visit to Lombok. Won't be my last. And will be on my list of recommended places for parents back at home.

We're so lucky to have been able to go on this snorkeling trip. The water was pristine, and the boat was clean and comfortable. We were very well taken care of during the trip. We had the chance to see black-tip reef sharks, a lionfish, and some beautiful lobsters. The reefs were really colourful and healthy, too.
This is a really meaningful eco-business that we are very happy and proud to be able to support. We will definitely do more boat trips with The Dorsal Effect the next time we are in Lombok! Will recommend this to my friends and family, too.

I highly highly recommend a visit here. I wanted to check out and organic farm while in Indo and I'm so grateful I found Saifana. Right away, we were greeted with the warmest welcome. The host rememebered and referred to us by name throughout the day we were there. We wanted to stay overnight but they were fully booked and I now understand why. We did a cooking class with a young girl who spoke excellent English and together we created the yummiest meal with super fresh and organic ingredients. We couldn't finish it so they put it in the fridge for us and heated it up for us to have for dinner. THey have a little "shop" and a library and some board games in the cafe. Everyone was so so lovely and the whole farm just has really good vibes. I would go back to Lombok just to go to this farm!
