Why go
If you're looking for a day trip around Labuan Bajo, Rangko Cave is a cool cave spot that you can swim in, and even getting there is a fun adventure! You have to take a 1hr car ride from LBJ to the harbour, and take a 20 min boat ride to where Rangko cave is.
What to do or see here
You'll get to see a limestone saltwater cave - great for pictures and swimming in the cave!
Best Time to Go
- Go in March to May because it’s low season. The cave is small so avoiding the peak season in June to Sep is good.
- For the best photos, try to time your visit to get there between 2 to 3pm, because that’s when the sunlight comes in and lights up the cave and even shines on the water so it looks really blue.
Who is it for?
- Anyone who's looking for a fun day trip around Labuan Bajo!
- Though note that it may not be suitable for young kids as life jackets aren't provided, nor for the elderly because its quite dark, and rocks are slippery.
Top Tips
- The rocks on the way down are slippery so be careful, and wear shoes/hiking sandals that have good grip
- The cave isn’t that big so you can get another view point of the cave (it’s on the left side) and people don’t usually go there
- There are toilets on the island that Rangko cave is at
- Bring a mini towel/change of clothes so you can change out of your swimsuit
