Why go
If you've always wanted to see Orangutans, Semenggoh is probably the best and most ethical places in Asia to do it, other than on a wildlife safari. Sightings are not guaranteed here, but chances are pretty high especially outside of fruiting season.

What to do or see here
- Here you can learn about how the Orangutans are rehabilitated, and observe them in a semi-wild environment.
- It's pretty free and easy. Once you get into the reserve, you can basically wander around the main feeding area, or a few trails to look for semi-wild orangutans. If you're lucky they'll be out and about for you to spot!

Best Time to Go
- The best time to go is during the feeding session, which takes place twice a day at 9am-9:30am and 3pm-3:30pm. It gets crowded during these times but this is probably your best chance of seeing the Orangutans.
- Note that you may not see Orangutans as frequently during fruiting season (Nov to March) as Orangutans would be in the jungle eating wild fruits instead.

Who is it for?
- Anyone who loves wildlife! It is one of the best reserves in Asia so if you're interested in conservation, you should visit.
- It's suitable for all ages from kids to the elderly as there is minimal walking here, and the trails are flat.

Top Tips
- For your best chance of seeing Orangutans, come here outside of fruiting season from April to October.
- Some travellers have been to Semenggoh and haven't seen Orangutans - but that's a sign of an ethical reserve. If you want to read more on why we believe Semenggoh is an ethical wildlife reserve, take a look here.
