Explore the bit more unknown Bali. We did the Ancient jungle trekking and remote waterfalls experience and loved all elements of it. Our driver Rian introduced us to a local market on the way. We tried nearly all the different fruits and snacks. Nearly full we had a yummy breakfast with a view. Next stop rainforest with local guide Ilu who had grown up in the area and knew a lot about the plants and animals. In between we crossed the lake in a canoe, walked a bit further to our lunch in the village. Waterfalls were next. There were hardly any people there. Highly recommend the whole experience.

Highly recommend! Putu and the whole Getaway camp crew were amazing. So friendly, knowledgeable, accomodating and authentic. After pick up from Ubud we made a quick stop at a market for fresh fruit and then we were taken to a Warung on top of a ridge line for breakfast with an amazing view. We learnt a lot treking through a protected forest and the canoe trip back across the lake to basecamp was the highlight. After a short walk we we served a delicious and authentic meal at Getaway camp headquarters then were taken to the waterfalls. Even though it’ll the rain was bucketing down, it was beautiful and enjoyable (make sure you bring a rain jacket!).We were then driving back to Ubud with snacks and smiles.

Really fun day exploring the beauty of Munduk! We started by trying some unique fruits at a local market. Next was breakfast on top of the hill overlooking the lake. Beautiful. We then decided to trek in the jungle before the waterfalls so we weren’t wet (also a good choice because it rains here more often in the afternoon so we were dry in the jungle) and saw some absolutely amazing trees. Komang was a wonderful guide, telling us the names and information of fruits, berries, trees, and other plants that gave us a chance to learn a lot about nature in Bali. It continues to amaze me how abundant the edible plants are and how the Balinese people incorporate them into soups and other meals. We canoed across the lake which is an amazing way to see the lush jungle. We then had lunch at the local home after passing by fields of beautiful blue and white hydrangeas—which I particularly loved. I felt like I was in a fairy land. The lunch was so delicious! Traditional Balinese food made with ingredients right from their garden. We saw a few temples along the way. And last we hiked the waterfalls. At this point it was down-pouring. They have rain coats and large umbrellas—I encourage you to take both. Not ideal, but honestly we just laughed about it all and enjoyed seeing the beautiful waterfalls. None of us swam. Putu, our guide, was very helpful and a good time. Prepare for over 15,000 steps throughout the day, but to be well fed and well taken care of by everyone involved. Highly recommend for a chance to see a lot of Munduk without being rushed!
