This is a 2.5-hour workshop that teaches you how to use the potter's wheel to create your own ceramic bowls/cups. You will be guided by an experienced ceramic instructor; this is ideal for those who have little or no pottery experience. Option Highlights✅ Learn to create your own ceramic pieces using the potter's wheel✅ All materials, glazing and firing are provided✅ Guidance by a patient and experienced instructor✅ Check out one of the remaining dragon kilns in Singapore! What to ExpectImmerse yourself in the process of wheel throwing — using the electric pottery wheel where your foot controls the speed of the spinning wheel with a pedal whereas your hands shape the clay. Pick up the clay shaping steps and techniques, along with a demonstration from the instructor so you could start creating your own art piece. The StudioThe studio is situated within the premises of the former Guan Huat Dragon Kiln, one of the last two remaining dragon kilns in Singapore. The rustic open studio has plenty of natural light and is surrounded by greeneries that inspires creativity in fellow potters. Collection of PiecesYou will get to keep two of your favourite pieces from this session. They will be available for collection in between 4-8 weeks, as they require glazing with colour and 2 rounds of firing in the kiln. Your instructor will inform you of the waiting time once you are done with your own pieces. This wheel-throwing session is suitable for 12 years old and above. Children will have to be accompanied by an adult.Time SlotsThe instructor is only available on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Classes are subjected to availability.

Soft Clay Studio

Soft Clay Studios is run by Sutopo - who is an experienced trainer in ceramics technique since 2010. He freelanced as a product model maker and an exhibit sculptor, but later pursued a career in ceramics as it proved to be more fulfilling, being able to create and teach the art of ceramics to the public. Sutopo believes there is an artist in everyone, a natural inert ability that can be nurtured given the right environment.

Thoroughly enjoyed the wheel throwing trial class conducted by Mr Sutopo (Soft Clay Studios). VERY reasonably priced / value for money workshop compared to many other studios in SG. The compound has lovely natural surroundings that inspires calm and creativity. Highly recommended!
