This is a private 1-hour guided virtual tour, where you'll learn about Singapore Peranakan culture - from their artefacts, to ceremonies, to food. Group size: 30-150 persons. What to Expect Follow Tribe Tours to Kim Choo Kueh Chang, a beloved old-world establishment that specialises in delicious Nyonya rice dumplings. Through this hands-on experience and tour around the heritage shophouse, you will gain a glimpse into understanding the food & material culture of the Peranakan people. Content covered:1. Origins of Peranakan – race, culture, or identity? (5mins) 2. Food and snacks of Peranakans – Kueh, cookies and more (5mins) 3. Artefacts and material culture of Peranakan – Knowing about kebaya, beaded slippers, wedding ceremony etc (20mins) 4. Watch a live Rempah Udang making session - a traditional Peranakan dessert made of glutinous rice with shrimps filling wrapped in banana leaves (20mins)Video Conferencing Platform*The operator is able to host sessions via Zoom. Invitation to join the session will be provided closer to the date of the event.*Upon successful booking, a Zoom meeting code and password will be emailed to you. The meeting code and password will be emailed to you latest on the morning of the live stream date. Do log in 5 minutes earlier as the Livestream session will start on time.*Throughout the session, we encourage you to ask questions and interact with the guides and natives (or subject matter experts) via the chat and unmute function.Optional Add-on - Rempah Udang Kit Delivery:For a more immersive experience, you may choose to add-on a Rempah Udang home delivery kit to participants. This will contain the ingredients to make Rempah Udang so participants are able to make the dessert during the livestream. If you would like this, please choose the delivery add-on in the booking form. The kit will be delivered approximately a few hours before the live stream.Please leave your delivery address in the "comment" box upon booking.
