Helpful Questions from Other Travellers
How do I get there?
The most affordable & convenient form of travel from Sapa/Hanoi to Ha Giang is definitely the sleeper buses. These buses can almost always be booked through the accommodation where you are staying. They cost between VND 180 000 – VND 250 000 (for both Sapa/Hanoi to Ha Giang). The bus journey is between 6-7 hours. Unless you're really pressed for time, avoid the sleeper buses and opt for the more comfortable VIP van instead.

Do I need to go with a guide?
You should go with a guide if you feel hesitant about riding a bike on the roads with swooping twists and turns. The great thing about having a seasoned local guide and/or motorbike driver (often referred to as an easy rider) is that they know the route, know where the stops are and add an incredible amount of local knowledge and banter.
